INDUSTRIAL SCAFFOLDER
MacKinnon & Olding has an immediate need for Scaffolders to join its team in Nova Scotia.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Erect, inspect, repair, dismantle, maintain and identify system, tube and clamp scaffolds
-
Design scaffolds to site requirements and material specifications in accordance with company
-
Ensure fall protection methods are available, adequate and maintained on scaffold assemblies
-
Undertake discipline work scopes as required
-
Adopt safe working practices and promote safety awareness
-
Assess the type and location of scaffold required to follow the self-certification and inspection
check, and
-
Ensure that all scaffolds are built, inspected and dismantled in accordance with MacKinnon &
Olding scaffold procedures
QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with erection of system, tube and clamp scaffolding

INDUSTRIAL PAINTER
MacKinnon & Olding has an immediate need for Painters to join its team in Nova Scotia and Quebec. This position has potential for a Monday – Friday schedule or 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotation based on location.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Application and/or removal of protective coatings
-
Necessary maintenance of tools and equipment;
-
Ensure the most effective use of all equipment and materials on contract
-
Operate equipment to clean, wash, strip, sand, remove corrosion, fill dents or otherwise prepare items for application of paint, lacquer or other protective coatings
-
Operate hand-held spray guns to spray paint or coat stationary items
-
Clean and maintain painting and coating equipment
-
Adopt safe working practices and promote safety awareness
-
Inspect surfaces for contamination and complete surface preparations prior to applications
-
Other duties as required
-
1 year experience in Industrial painting
-
Experience in steel hand/power tool cleaning, abrasive blasting, water jetting and/or spray painting would be considered an asset
-

HSE COORDINATOR
MacKinnon & Olding is seeking a dedicated Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Coordinator to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Reporting to the Manager, HSEQ, the HSE Coordinator will ensure compliance with HSEQ management systems and foster a strong safety culture at their primary work site at Irving Shipbuilding, while influencing across M&O worksites.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Conduct routine site inspections and prepare reports on corrective and preventative actions
-
Engage with clients, employees, and project teams to promote a consistent HSE message and enhance safety culture
-
Monitor HSE performance, identify trends, and implement best practices
-
Participate in internal/external audits and assist in report preparation
-
Perform accident/incident investigations and develop follow-up action plans
-
Oversee compliance with health, safety, and environmental activities (e.g., FLRA, toolbox meetings, hazard analysis).
-
Conduct new hire orientations and support HSE requirements with a focus on safety culture improvement
-
Assist with case management and return-to-work requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Diploma in OHS, or equivalent experience
-
3+ years of HSEQ experience in an industrial setting with field experience
-
OH&S designation (CRSP, CHSC, NCSO, CSS, CSO) or in progress
-
Ability to achieve security clearance for site access
-
Ability to manage client HSEQ software (Cognibox, ISNetworld, EHS Insight)
