Life Safety Systems, a division of Atlantica, is looking for a Sprinkler Designer to join our team in our Dartmouth, NS office. The Sprinkler Designer will play a crucial role in developing accurate and efficient designs for fire sprinkler systemsĀ in a variety of projects, including commercial, residential, and industrial spaces.Ā This role requires a strong understanding of fire protection standards, engineeringĀ principles, and attention to detail to ensure high-quality, code-compliant designsĀ that meet the safety needs of our clients.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Design Engineer and working in an exciting andĀ collaborative environment, you will be responsible for the following activities:
- Develop detailed fire sprinkler system designs, layouts, and hydraulicĀ calculations using design software (such as AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Revit, etc.).
- Ensure designs meet all relevant codes, including NFPA standards, local fireĀ codes, and client specifications.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients toĀ incorporate project requirements into designs.
- Conduct site surveys as needed to verify site conditions and incorporate themĀ into design plans.
- Prepare submittals, material lists, and documentation for project approval andĀ installation.
- Provide technical support to installation teams to ensure adherence to design specifications.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation for reference and futureĀ projects.

Who are we looking for?
- Degree or certification in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,Ā or a related field.
- Experience in fire protection sprinkler design or related field.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, HydraCAD).
- Knowledge of NFPA standards, especially NFPA 13, and relevant local fireĀ codes.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify potential design issuesĀ proactively.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teamĀ members and clients.
- NICET Certification in Water-Based System Layout (preferred or requiredĀ based on experience level)
