Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency (NSPHA) is the provincial government agency  responsible for the administration and delivery of affordable housing solutions for low-income  Nova Scotians.Â
We contribute to the prosperity of Nova Scotia by helping individuals and families find a home  that’s right for them, at a price they can afford, in a healthy and vibrant community that offers  the services, support and opportunities they need. We accomplish this by working closely with  other levels of government as well as private and community partners.Â
Across its districts, NSPHA provides more than 11,200 safe, affordable homes as part of its  Housing Services to seniors and families. District offices manage the day-to-day operations of  Nova Scotia’s housing stock. Their responsibilities include administering tenant applications and  placements, collecting rent, resolving tenant issues, and maintaining and repairing properties.
ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor oversees the allocated financial, contracted, and human resources to achieve NSPHA client service, maintenance, renovation, and loss prevention program objectives. Responsible for the development, monitoring, and adherence to operational procedures and standards, hiring, selection, scheduling, and performance while ensuring services are delivered in an efficient and effective manner.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Plan daily work schedules and assign work to maintenance staff as well as external contractors.Â
• Perform and document regular inspections of buildings and properties for deficiencies, determining appropriate courses of action to ensure repairs are undertaken and buildings are safe and habitable.
• Direct and inspect work of staff and contractors to ensure performance is in accordance with specifications and quality standards. Â
• Ensure equipment is maintained through regular scheduled inspections, and replacements as required.Â
• Ensure that all employees and contractors carry out their duties and responsibilities in a safe manner and in accordance with the Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act.Â
• Other duties as assigned.Â

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• You will have extensive experience in the construction industry with a proven track record in building and property maintenance or related fields. Â
• You excel at building relationships with external contractorsÂ
• Experienced supervising employees both unionized and non-unionized. • Good knowledge of planned maintenance procedures, building regulations and codes, municipal by-laws, and Provincial Acts and Regulations.Â
• Competency in Microsoft Office applicationsÂ
• Possess a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License with access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes.Â

Salary Range: $64,826.35 - $76,217.68 annuallyÂ
